Marfa is a small town in Texas that is best known for its love of art, culture, food, and music. The beauty and uniqueness of this one-of-a-kind town have lured visitors from all over the world, and some fall in love with it so much that they decide to move there. In fact, a large portion of Marfa’s residents come from other places.
One of the town’s most popular annual events, the Trans-Pecos Festival of Music and Love, is celebrating its 8th year this year and will be taking place September 12th-15th. The event centers around music, but it also includes many workshops, art, vendors, and other instalments that make the three-day festival an experience to remember.
The 2013 music line up is spread out over three days and includes a wide range of artists. On Thursday, September 12, the line up includes: Hayes Carll, Nic Armstrong and the Thieves, Dan Dyer, and Hotel Brotherhood. Friday, September 13, will be featuring: Junior Brown, Robert Ellis, Tift Merritt, Jenny O. and the High Society, and Charlie Mars. And Friday, September 14, will feature: David Garza and the Cosmico Family with very special guest Margaret Cho, M. Ward, Nicki Bluhm & the Gamblers, and Will Johnson.
One of the most fun parts of the festival is that attendees camp out every night. You can either bring your own tent or you can rent one from the festival, which will be erecting them throughout the area for people who do not want to deal with the hassle of setting up their own camp.
